Youth holidays therefore consist of vacation days paid by the RVA to <strong>supplement your incomplete entitlement to regular vacation days.</strong> The youth holidays allowance amounts to <strong>65% of the <a data-type=\"internal\" href=\"/en/individuals/my-life/studies-and-work/from-gross-to-net-salary\">gross salary</a></strong></span></span><span> </span><span><span>that you earn as a young person during the first month in which you take your holidays. This amount is subject to a limit of 2,751.99 euros per month.</span></span></span></span></p>"}},{"componentType":"sectionTitle","title":"Youth holidays conditions: who is entitled to it and when?"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p><span><span><span><span>First of all, there are some conditions that you must meet:</span></span></span></span></p><ul><li><span><span><span><span>On <strong>December 31 of the holiday credit year</strong>, you must be <strong>under the age of 25</strong>. (The holiday credit year is the calendar year in which you earn your vacation rights. Following this is the holiday year, the calendar year in which you may take up those earned vacation days).</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span>During this holiday credit year, you must have <strong>completed your studies</strong>.</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span>After you finished your studies, you had one or more employment contracts as an employee (not as a job student) for at least one month during the holiday credit year, and you effectively worked at least 13 days. This applies to both white-collar and blue-collar workers, full-time and part-time.</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span>You can only take youth holidays <strong>when you have a job</strong>.</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span>You can take your youth holidays <strong>all at once or on multiple occasions</strong> per full or per half day. </span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span>Important: youth holidays are a right and <strong>not an obligation</strong>. In other words, you do not have to take youth vacation if you do not think it is necessary for you, but your employer may not refuse it if you do want to take it (unlike regular unpaid vacation, which can be refused).</span></span></span></span></li></ul><p><span><span><span><span>Moreover, if you meet these conditions, you are entitled to youth holidays only <strong>after you have used up all of your regular legal vacation days.</strong></span></span></span></span></p>"}},{"componentType":"sectionTitle","title":"How many days of youth holidays can you take? How is this calculated?"},{"componentType":"paragraph","richBody":{"value":"<p><span><span><span><span>Since all full-time employees in Belgium are usually entitled to four weeks of annual vacation, <strong>youth holidays also allow you to</strong> <strong>supplement any vacation days to which you may already be entitled up to a maximum of four weeks.</strong></span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><span><span>How much <strong>regular paid vacation</strong> you may and must take first <strong>depends on your number of days worked in the previous holiday credit year</strong>. Those who work 12 months are entitled to four weeks of vacation. Those who work six months are only entitled to two weeks of paid vacation, and so on. </span></span></span></span></p><p><span><span><strong><span><span>An example</span></span></strong><span><span>: If you start working in October in 2023, you are entitled to five paid vacations in 2024 without a youth holidays. Here’s a summary of the most important steps:</span></span></span></span></p><ul><li><span><span><strong><span><span>After the first month</span></span></strong><span><span> during which you took one or more youth holidays (i.e. unpaid vacation at that time), you submit the <strong>C103 youth holidays form</strong> to the payment institution of your choice. This can be your union or the Auxiliary Fund for Unemployment Benefits (HVW). The blank form can also be acquired from them or on the </span></span><a href=\"https://www.rva.be/\"><span><span>RVA website</span></span></a><span><span>.</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span>Your <strong>employer</strong> also provides an electronic document with the number of days of youth leave you have taken as an employee (<strong>declaration scenario 9</strong>). You receive a copy of this, but do not have to submit it yourself.</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span><span><span>The payment institution sends your application to the RVA. It is important that the RVA receives this application <strong>at the latest in the month of February following the year in which you took your youth holidays</strong>. Say you take youth vacation in June and December in 2023, then in both cases the RVA must receive your application no later than February 2024 to be entitled to the benefit.</span></span></span></span></li><li><span><span>For <strong>each subsequent month</strong> in which you take youth holidays, your <strong>employer submits an electronic declaration</strong> with the number of hours of youth leave you took (declaration scenario 10).
