As stock split is a corporate action that increases the number of shares outstanding by issuing more shares to existing shareholders. Usually these are performed when the share price of a company or fund has increased significantly.
If for instance the decision is made to split a share worth 10.000 Euro per share in a 10-1 stock split, instead of having 1 share worth 10.000 Euro, the investor now has 10 shares worth 1.000 Euro each. A worked example of the split ratio:

If we were to split this share 20-1, the new share price after the split will be: 461.51 Euro / 20 = 23.07 Euro per share. The overall value of the shareholding remains unchanged as: 20 shares at 23.07 Euro = a total of 461.51 Euro, the same as before the stock split.
