Since August 2022, ING will also assess you on your sustainability preferences. Concretely this means that you will be asked if you want to take sustainability into account when making investment decisions, and if so, if you want to detail them. On the basis of this additional information ING will be able to advise you on your sustainable investments.

You can choose to invest in solutions that allow you to take into account the negative impact of investment on sustainability factors (also called “Principal Adverse Impact” or PAI). You can define for instance to avoid negative impact on environmental factors (like for instance biodiversity), social factors (like for instance gender equality) or both.
Principal Adverse Impacts (PAI) refer to the negative impact ING could cause via its investments & insurance services on environmental, social or governance factors. Examples are greenhouse gas emissions, carbon footprint, board gender diversity, average human right performance, …

You can tell us the minimum percentage you want us to take into account in your portfolio (or product solution depending on the investment service received). As the current definition of a sustainable investment is still very broad, we rely on our expertise and the information provided by the fund managers in order to assess it.
Sustainable investments is defined here as an investment in an economic activity that contributes to an environmental objective or an investment in an economic activity that contributes to a social objective.

This is for example an investment product with positive contribution to the reduction of CO2 emissions.
Taxonomy is a classification system that determines whether an economic activity qualifies as sustainable, (actually focused on environmentally sustainable).
