In Belgium, the cost of an energy-efficient boiler (i.e., one that does not rely on fossil fuels) is extremely variable as certain conditions come into play. In addition to the type of boiler (biomass boiler, condensing boiler, heat pump...) and its energy performance, installation costs can also vary enormously, depending on the specific features of your home (age, surface area, an existing central heating system such as solar water heater...).
What we can say, however, is that the cost of a hot water boiler can very quickly reach €10,000, €15,000, or even more. Of course, the energy costs must be set against your energy savings. So, it's a wise energy efficiency investment, and the price can be financed in a number of ways.

Grants, low-rate loans, and 0% loans can help your boiler financing, provided you meet all the conditions.
So, for example, only the following boilers will have access to boiler finance providers in the Brussels region and Wallonia in 2024:
biomass boilers (wood or pellets);
heat pumps (aerothermal, geothermal, or combined heat)
solar thermal system( Solar panels and solar water heaters).
Gas or oil-fired boilers no longer qualify for the energy efficiency investments in these regions.
Public aids also depend on your income. If you live in Wallonia, Brussels Capital Region, or Flanders, the criteria to be eligible for a grant or a minimum loan at a low or 0% rate vary. Only thorough research based on your particular situation will enable you to find out whether you are eligible for boiler financing or not. The regional government websites are comprehensive and clear on this subject.
With or without the help of a grant or other boiler financing aid, you may also consider taking out an energy loan to cover the purchase price.
