A bank guarantee involves three parties:
A bank guarantee is a commitment from a bank to pay a third party if you fail to meet your contractual obligations and/or if the conditions for payment set out in the bank guarantee are met. It provides additional financial security for business transactions.
Example:
A construction company is granted a project and must provide a bank guarantee to the project owner. Instead of paying a large deposit in cash, the company requests a bank guarantee.
This ensures trust between both parties and allows the business to operate without locking up cash.

When?
A bank guarantee is a commitment by the bank to pay a third party if you do not meet your obligations (e.g. paying rent or completing work) and/or if the payment conditions specified in the bank guarantee are met.
A blocked account guarantee means the agreed amount is held in a dedicated account for a fixed period.
Bank guarantees are generally non-transferable. They are issued to a specific beneficiary in relation to a specific contract.
However, a transfer may be allowed if explicitly stated in the bank guarantee text or with the approval of all parties (the beneficiary, yourself and the bank). For example, this may apply to a rental bank guarantee in case of a change of landlord for the rented property.
You can always request an amendment or, if needed, a new bank guarantee to replace the existing one.

You need the agreement of the beneficiary and the bank if you want to:
If you would like to cancel your bank guarantee, your first step is to contact the beneficiary (the party in whose favour the bank guarantee was issued). The beneficiary must send a formal release request to ING before the bank guarantee can be cancelled.
Check the bank guarantee document for any specific conditions regarding release or cancellation.
